Barnet Man and Van is committed to conducting all aspects of its business ethically and responsibly. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, workers, agency staff, contractors, and suppliers engaged in providing services to or on behalf of Barnet Man and Van.

Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy

We have a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking in any form. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation, individual or supplier involved in the exploitation of people. All business decisions, from recruitment to procurement, must align with our commitment to protect human rights, promote fair working conditions and uphold the dignity of every individual.

Every person working for or with Barnet Man and Van is expected to act with integrity, comply with applicable laws and follow this policy. Our Business and Supply Chains

Barnet Man and Van provides man and van, removals and related logistics services. Our supply chains primarily involve vehicle leasing and maintenance, fuel providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional subcontracted labour for specialist or peak-period work. We recognise that some areas of the logistics and labour supply sectors can be vulnerable to exploitation, particularly where low-skilled or temporary labour is used.

We are committed to understanding these risks and ensuring that our suppliers and business partners share our standards on ethical conduct, labour rights and modern slavery prevention.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We expect all suppliers and contractors to uphold high standards of labour practice, including the prohibition of forced, bonded or involuntary labour and human trafficking. As part of our supplier onboarding and renewal process, we seek confirmation that they comply with applicable modern slavery legislation and maintain appropriate policies and procedures.

Where risk is identified or suspected, Barnet Man and Van may carry out more detailed checks or audits. These may include requests for documentation on employment practices, right to work checks, use of recruitment agencies, and evidence of wages, working hours and health and safety compliance. If a supplier fails to meet our standards or refuses to cooperate with our checks, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.

Reporting Channels and Raising Concerns

We encourage anyone who works for or with Barnet Man and Van to report any concerns about possible modern slavery, human trafficking or other unethical practices. Concerns can be raised with a manager, a senior member of the business or through any internal reporting route made available by the company. All reports will be treated seriously and, where possible, handled in confidence.

No one will suffer any detrimental treatment for raising a genuine concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated. We will investigate reported concerns promptly and, where appropriate, take action which may include working with suppliers to resolve issues or reporting matters to law enforcement or regulatory bodies.

Training, Awareness and Responsibility

Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management. Key members of staff involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management are expected to be familiar with the signs of modern slavery and the requirements of this statement.

We aim to build awareness among our workforce about the risks of modern slavery, how to identify warning signs and how to report concerns. This includes providing guidance to managers and staff on ethical sourcing, fair treatment and compliance with relevant laws.

Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement

Barnet Man and Van is committed to reviewing and improving its approach to tackling modern slavery. This statement and the measures described within it are reviewed annually to ensure they remain effective, relevant and proportionate to our business and risk profile.

As part of the annual review, we consider feedback from staff, incidents or concerns raised, developments in legislation and best practice, and any changes in our operations or supply chains. Where necessary, we will update our policies, strengthen supplier requirements or introduce additional training and monitoring to improve our prevention and response.

This statement has been approved by the leadership of Barnet Man and Van and represents our ongoing commitment to operate a business that respects human rights, promotes fair working conditions and actively opposes modern slavery in all its forms.
